Audiometry and doping control in competitive deaf sport

In the past forty years both participating countries and participants at Summer Deaflympics Games have increased by 2.5-fold. Furthermore, there are approximately fifty European or World sports events organized for hearing impaired. The aim of paper was to discuss procedures requirements related doping control in deaf people’s competitive sport context rising number athletes.For sake fair play spirit dynamically developing sports, International Committee Sports Deaf (ICSD) introduced rules governing participation hard-of-hearing athletes events. Healthy individuals with a loss least 55 dB allowed. Thus, audiometric examination constitutes first criterion. Since 2004, ICSD has been cooperating Anti-Doping Agency. second criterion is, therefore, blood urine sample prohibited substances. 23rd 2017 involved 2858 athletes. Overall, 842 (29.5%) were randomly subjected an audiological test; 9 competitors from different disqualified because non-compliance standards. A total 300 selected underwent substances; 1 disqualified. world literature lacks scientific reports on including control.
